What is the Course About?

Duration - 2 Years

£3,020 per annum

This course will help you acquire the relevant skills and knowledge to obtain the V.T.C.T. Levels 2 & 3 NVQ Diplomas in Beauty Therapy and the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology and Pathology. These diplomas are internationally recognised and respected by the Beauty Industry and Associations. Your training and qualifications will allow you to specialise in the beauty field of your preference. You will have the opportunity to see trade demonstrations within the College and in the UK. Work experience will be provided in local salons during your second year. In addition to the mandatory units studied you will also have the opportunity to gain additional trade qualifications such as Advanced Waxing and Dermalogica Skin and Product knowledge certificates.

What are the entry Requirements?

Any of the following qualifications:

Three GCSEs (grade C or above). Preference will be given to applicants obtaining C or higher in English, Science and Maths or NVQ 2 in Hairdressing, or an equivalent qualification of the same level. Mature candidates without formal qualifications may be eligible, this will be determined at the interview. Entry into the Second Year will be dependant on successfully completing all aspects of Year One.

What Subjects will I study?

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Year 1):

Salon health and safety
Salon reception duties
Promoting products and services to clients
Develop own effectiveness at work
Develop effective teamwork & relationships
Provide facial skin care
Provide make-up services
Enhance the appearance of eyelashes and eyebrows
Carry out waxing services
Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
Provide manicure and pedicure services

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Year 2):

Monitor salon health and safety
Contribute to planning and implementation of promotional activities
Provide body electrical treatments
Provide facial electrical treatments
Provide body massage treatments
Provide electrical epilation treatments
Provide Indian head massage
Massage using pre blended aromatherapy oils

How will I be assessed?

The practical assessment will be achieved within the purpose built College training salons throughout the course. Underpinning knowledge is assessed with projects, assignments and written and online tests. This course work is used to build a portfolio of evidence.
